croesi'r finiau crossing the boundary
Friday 10 March 2017, 6.45pm, Performance Studio
Crossing the Boundary was named after a story by Ifan Gruffydd, bardd gwlad and farmhand from Llangristiolus, who told how his mother forbade him to to cross the invisible boundary beyond the church, because on the other side lived the fairies, who were known to steal away young boys like Ifan and keep them for a year and a day.
Peter and Ailsa explored themes of the visible and invisible walls in the landscape, and encounters with the Otherworld by people who inconveniently try to cross those boundaries. Their show has toured America and been performed recently at the National Library.
This selection of tales and tunes from the full show declared the opening of the festival: from the Lady of the Lake to the Lady-boys of the Mynydd, and the Lincolnshire gentleman who wanted to build a castle on a Welsh mountain.
